Default Acceleration errratic

My truck seems to accel great sometimes and then poorly other times. I also have noticed since it was new that there is a dead spot in the 2000 - 2500 rpm range. It pulls good from 1600 - 2000 kinda less from 2000- 2500 then at 2500 it sets me back in the seat like a switch was turned on until 3100 rev limiter. But some times it just never kick's in at 2500. Does this sound familiar to any of you, especially 6 speed owners? The truck is stock except for muffler kit in sig.

Have you changed your fuel filter recently?

I am near the end of my fuel and air filter life. But the dead spot in the rpm range has been there since new.

No gauges yet, I know I should have by now but I just can't make up my mind.

Does your truckat stock setting pull consistantly all the way through the from 1600 up?
