Default 2000 Ram Fog Lights

I just got a new set of fog lights and I'm trying to get them to run off the stock switch in the cab. The three wires are red/orange (power), black (ground), and blue. I'm assuming the blue wire is the signal wire, but power only runs to it when the switch is off. Its even the same if you check the wires coming out of the switch itself. I'd appreciate any ideas on what to do.

Just go buy a switch and poke a hole in the dash kinda underneath to the right of your steering wheel and so you can do it individual to your headlights. A service truck I run has those about 1/2in. ones that light up for fog lights and service lights on the bed. There out of the way down there but easy to reach and the lit up ones are nice cause you know which are on at night. just can't see em during the day

I don't know how true it is, but I've heard that you need to be carefull as to how many things you try to drive off of the wireing comming off of that switch. Apparently it's under rated.

The factory switch has a fog light setting. I just can't get the wires figured out.

Do they all? Our 3500 has them alrdy and the switch pops out to turn em on. My 2500 doesn't pop out as is so if I want fog lights I either buy a new one or what I said earlier

Yeah, the switch pops out. But I can't get how one wire is hot when the switch is off and then when its on it goes cold.

How about the year of the truck. Model too. I must have missed it before.

Mayfair, you need to catch these things.LOL

I would suspect that blue wire is part of the circuit that prevents the factory fogs from being on the same time as the high beams.

I could be wrong. I'll try to help more when I get the year.

Its a 2000 ram 3/4 ton. But the simple answer is that I'm just going to relay them off the headlights
without using the factory switch. That way they'll be there for high and low beam and I won't have the chance to leave the damn things on and forget about them.

There's a 2000 manual free for download on this site. You can check there.

I have to ask, how will you relay the fog lamps off the headlight switch? How will you turn the fogs on and off?

The switch on the dash is fine for what you want to do, I would bet. Let me look at the wiring diagram.

Do you have daytime running lights?
