trans shifting late
My '05 quad-cab 4x4CTD doesen't seem to want to shift into high gear until about 42 mph and doesen't go into lock-up untilI get a little over 50mph unless I really drive like there was a raw egg under the throttle pedal. Is there some way to get these two shift points down a couple of mph for around town driving? Also what do you guys think about shut down timers to saveon turbo wear? Are they worth it? I want to do some very minor changes to the way the truck drives, and tows, but I'm only towing about 4000 lbs so I do not need a whole lot more power.
Your trans shifts at about the same speed as mine does and it’s a 2006 so to me it is normal and has been this way from the day I bought it. If I understood one re-builder correctly our trans has a self-learning computer program that always tries to keep up with how we drive and shift accordingly.
I heard a few people say that you can unhook the batteries for 30 minutes, and turn the key to on to drain all of the power out of the ECU and when you hook them back up, turn the key off first before hooking them back up and drive, it will make the transmission relearn how you drive your truck. BTW, I have not tried this so I don't know if it works or not.
Charles. . .thats when you go to the track and make a few passes at full throttle, then hit the dyno. . .that'll throw the computer a serious curve ball
one more reason I love my 6spd[8D]

Well I had my fill of shifting 13 speeds 18 hours a day, that and my left leg can't take that any more so to make my lefe easier I went with the auto transmission.
