Default front brakes - rant

anyone attemtped to do their own front brakes on a ctd truck yet?

93 ctd require the hub assembly to be pressed on and off of the rotor. you can buy a gasser hub/ rotor assy, but the hub is 1.5" I.D. and the diesel hub is 2.5" I.D.!!!!

so lets see, thats: 16 new wheel studs, 2 new rotors, and a machine shop to seperate the old and press on the new.......why so dang difficult?????

Dodge wants about $400 per hub/ rotor assy [sm=WTFsgign.gif]

ok Im done ranting.......

YEP ... unfortunately I've had to do it twice now. I feel your pain brotha.

I've had brakes with 12K on them crack and destroy a set of new rotors even though I only went about 5 more miles to the shop. To have the rotors cut, you still hafta go through the same steps, so you might as well just replace them. Sucks !!!

Now I replace my front brakes every 10K needed or not. I just replaced both calipers and front brake lines as well. My truck stops better now than it ever did since I've owned it.

Well, look at it this way. Once you do the job, you'll KNOW when it was done and that it was done right.
