gosh darn valves...please assit...
ok tryin to adjust my valves on the 93.
how the hech do you manually turn the engine over to find TDC?? I cant even get my hand to the crank for a socket and ratchet set up.
found the timing pin.
have the valve specs..
intake 0.010"
exhaust 0.020"
DO NOT EXCEED factory specs. valve noise is NORMAL!!!![sm=badbadbad.gif]
guess Ill start workin on the leaky fuel injector for cyl #6 while waiting.
Thanx!

You can you a baring tool, or a socket on the crank pulley. Top dead center is when the timing pin is pushed in, and there is NO load on both the intake and exhaust valve, for the #1 cylinder. You make the adjustments per the manual, then pull the timing pinout, rotate the engine 360 degrees, (one turn), and now do the rest of the valves per the manual.
Basically, turn the crankshaft until the timing pin can be pushed into place. If you can "wiggle" the intake AND exhaust valve rockers, you have #1 cylinder TDC. If you can't wiggle both, pull the pin back, turn the crank one full turn until the pin can be recessed again. That will now be TDC.
It's easy. It works a lot better with a cold engine. You don't want to do it at running temp. I also clean around the valve covers with degreaser before I remove them. Stops any garbage from falling into the valve area.
I hope this helps... And those last two cylinders are a bi*ch...lol
Good luck with your ride.

usually you can use the alt pulley nut keeping pressure on the tensioner with another wrench, if not the breather tube/ plug on the front cover can be removed to get access to the injection pump nut
after fighting the crank location, tried using the alt pulley with no luck, I worked on injector #6, tightened lower bolts around power steerin pump to stop a leak (I hope). guessin Ill throw in the towel this time and have the mechanic do the valve adjustment.....then Ill find out the secret
Auto or manual? there is an inspection plat you can pull and turn the engine over with the ring gear teeth.

as faras the dang fuel injector, it started leakin today after a freeway run...
called Cummins, no injector #6 fuel supply line in stock in Phoenix. has to come from Cummins main warehouse...they tack on 15% handling fee to be shipped from home office....so its $55 + 15% and tax....then $70 for the injector....DANG IT!! right after droppin $250 on doin breaks!!!!
maybe I post a few pics of the sitiation!
