Default tranny swap

Has anyone ever done a tranny swap manual from auto? I have a bad problem with the torque converter hunting and i did one fix with the alum foil on wire and worked great for about 6 months and it started again and its driving me insane so i was wondering if a swap is worth is or not.

I've been pricing, it's about $7000 to put a six speed in $5000 for a five speed and a built auto for about $4000. Depends on how much you want to spend and how much work you want to do.

Thats why I'm just wondering if its cheaper to trade and buy a like a used 04 quad cab witha 6spd and save the money to mod it. And I'm the type of person who would rather own used than new just for the fact of like Powerjokes (Ford Learn to test stuff longer)

If you trade it in, your gonna loose close to the same amount to the steeler so you might as well toss a trans in. That $4000 for the auto is with a t/c and t/c lockup comander along with a bigger cooler.

What's with the foil? Is there some secret I know nothing about? My tranny is starting to do some funny things also but even though it's a 99 I have a warenty but I need to hide the edge juice or it might void it.
