Dammit... got a speeding ticket.
Here in California. Anything over 25mph over the speed limit. The Officer has the right to tow your vehicle and charge you with reckless driving. Big fine. Possible losing license for a few months.

Myth busters just proved all the ways to trick a speed failed and they got the number every time.
I have been stopped 3 times after jumping on it at the wrong time, one State boy said I was doing 85 by him but I was to fast for him to get me on radarand was back to normal speed by the time he caught up to me with his buddy, but couldn't do nothing but yell at me for 5 minutes, he pulled me for a DUI, but I had nothing todrink that night yet even though I came from a party, he was pissed at not getting me drinking, ran the numbers on my gun and let me go, oh I forgot the county Mountie I out ran last week, but he was hanging right beside my window in a unmarked car, I slowed down and he slowed and I said bye and jumped 5 cars ahead and he flashed his lights at me but didn't pull me over, So God has blessed me so I better start watching before I get my firstticket in a while

I hate to be the voice of reason for no good reason but before you go spray paint your license plate, put a cover on it, install a radar - - remember to check you're states laws.

Here's one for ya. Buya lifted Ram with 35" tires and rely on the dealer to tell you that the computer had been flashed and that the speedometer was on the money. When in truth its off by almost 9mph and get pulled over 15 minutes after taking delivery. Not a good day. Good thing was that the judge was decent and let me off.
What is this points off a license thing? And also, you were going 30 over and it's only a $160 fine?! Here in Washington, 35 over is a lose of license, plus a HUGE fine and possible jail time. My buddy got a 10+ ticket costing $110, on the way to pick up my new truck...
You should go and get what's called a "deferral", atleast in Washingtion you can do this, it costs $100, and the ticket stays off your record for a year, and if you don't get anymore tickets in a year, then it goes off completely. You can do this like once every few years.

sorry to hear about the tickets guys. when Im doiun 90+ down the freeway in my 93 ctd (grampas truck..or so they think), the cops look the other way..."old man must be gettin laid...old man havin a heart attack i guess..."
I have a good friend that sits in the photo radar vans here on Scottsdale...12 hr shifts of adjusting the camera, testing the flash on unsuspecting motorists, and playing video games via wireless connection or watchin dvds on laptop. any way, they have done several tests with the license plate covers - polorized, angled, and the spray. the photo cameras are set at an angle to match the lens over the plate. the radar is acuurate to about 190+ mph. you cant out run the cameras, nor hide from them . a keen eye is what it takes!!! here the cams are set for 11mph over the posted speed. the photo vans are required to place "photo radar ahead" signs 300ft before the vans. plenty of warning all around. I use cruse controll in the militarized zones on our freeways......of course its at 10mph over the limit, just below camera activation!!!!

A little mud or grease on the first or last digit on the pate will do the trick. They can't send you a ticket in the mail if they can not read the entire plate.
If you do get a ticket in the mail with a picture of you running a red light or speeding, then just send them back a picture of your money.
