Default starter problems

I went to start my truck this morning and when I turned the key everything lit up but the starter went click. I turned the key three more times and it just clicked and finally started right up on the next time. Batteries are both good and charged up. Any ideas?

I just had a similare problem with my 93.

look by the battery. see if there is a plug harness comin off the battery and splitting to the starter. the quick connect may be bad.

I would check all battery connections and double check the grounds. Dodge terminals are JUNK. Soft like lead....lol.

There is a possibility that your starter stopped in a dead spot that can appear as the starter begins it's final days....LOL.

If you hear clicking, but the starter won't crank, I would see if the terminals will "turn" by hand.A slight twist may snug them up if they are loose. Check the terminal for cracks. They're hard to see.

And not being nosy but, were the batteries isolated from each other, THEN tested? If they remain in parallel, you could test fine becausethe stronger batteryis making up for the weaker one.

I yanked every bit of my original cables and made all new one. Increased the wire size as well.

Just my two cents.....nothin more.

Don't ask me about them 06' seats cause I don't have a clue.

Good luck with your ride.

I took the batteries out and tested them separately both check out good even under a high amp load. I cleaned all four terminals but didn't look real close for cracks. All four terminals are tight.

probably a bad starter. The plunger and contacts refer to the selonoid on the starter, usually you can't get this seperate.

I seen the contacts and plunger sold separate in a Diesel Power Magazine ad for $36 plus shipping. Do you think this would cure the problem? A starter is kind of expensive isn'tit?

Starter ain't that bad. Maybe around $150.00 -$200.00.

You can certainly buy heavier duty ones as well.

Good luck with your ride.
