Default Silencer Ring question

I pulled off the silencer ring today and it appears to be corroded. What do you guys make of this?

Probably getting a little condensation in there. Could have been when it sat on the dealer lot.

Like jakebrake said. Condensation in your exhaust as it hits the turbo or something to that effect. Have you seen a difference with the ring vs. without it?

matt. . .thats the intake side. . .exhaust doesnt go through that end.

all the ring is is a stamped piece of galvanized steel. . .I'd say the press had something in it while that piece was being stamped.

Have you got a pic of what the turbo looked like AFTER you took the ring out? It looks kinda dirty. I'm wondering if moisture isn't making it through the air filter somehow, you know, like some people say happens with the K&N sucking the oil through.

Just a thought ...

That's what I hope. The truck was bought in Jan of 04 and only had 19,600 on it when I bought in Oct. of 06. Truck sat on the lot for over a month.

I don't and it did look dirty. I took a brand new white rag and nothing wiped off. I also did the blue tape trick and nothing was pulled out. It had a wix air filter that did need to be replaced. I had the AFE stock replacement filter arrive today.

Just a hair more tubo whistle noise. I gutted the baffle tube also. I've only driven it a couple miles without the silencer ring. The new air filter arrived today so I am going to install it tonight and take it for a spin to see if the filter does anything.

Yeah, I think your fine, and that you'll be a lot happier once you get that new filter on there.
