what did it cost back when I was born? 1987
WOW ... 87 ... I don't remember what diesel cost, but regular gas was about .99 cents. Right around a dollar.

We just went over $3 again here. That's a 15 cents jump overnight. And there's no good reason for it other than graduation is coming up at the University.

This whole fuel cost thing reminds me of Enron with their power scares back in early 2000. Their ALL crooks !! [:@]

actually i think the price is being more influenced by the futures market than production costs.. it doesnt matter if it only costs a penny to produce fuel.. the fact is.. only so much can be refined and demand is outpacing production...demand is up because of europe pushing diesel fuel as a way of boosting mpg's.. where usa is pushing hybrids and alternative fuels.. we may have a stable ride through the summer.. but i bet going into winter when heating oil demand jumps up.. so will the price ofdiesel.. luckily thats when i will be driving my diesel the least

1987.. hmm.. i graduated high school in 1984.. and i think i remember regular gas being around 99 cents a gallon.. and if thats the case.. id guess diesel could have been in the 70cent range..but my memory might be wrong

has anyone here ever though of the biodiesel?
I was wondering the same thing. The owners manual to my 2007 5.9L CTD says that I can use a 5% biodiesel mix. I'm not even sure where I can get this type of fuel or if its even worth it.

as far as where to buy biodiesel.. take this link

http://www.biodiesel.org/buyingbiodi...lfuelingsites/

the biodiesel people say any newer diesel engine can run up to 20% biodiesel (B20) .. but my 2007 owners manual clearly states no more than 5%.. im not sure its any cheaper.. but at least you get about the same power and mileage from it.. unlike gas/ethanol mixes

Great site. Yeah, my manual specifically states 5%. Unfortunately, the blend on all the gas stations in my state (Colorado) are B10, B20, and B100. Kansas has quite a bit of B2 and B5. I'd hesitate to use 20% if my manual states 5%.
