Duals are nicer to haul with than a single axle. And most times when you need tires you can still buy four and move two of the wheels from the rear to the front as steer wheels. I know a lot of people that got scared off from duals because they didn't want to buy six tires at a time.
I have a cousin wanting to buy a CTD and I know I read a little back about the differences, but can not find it now.
He wants to know if he should go duel for towing equipment or would the single rear wheel will do it.
He will be towing 10 the 12 thousand pounds
"DUALY" Much safer, I've blown rear tires, on a 2 wheel rear tire truck, towing various things from a full 600 gallon chemical trailer to a dirt track stock car and had a real exciting ride, always managed to get it safely stopped, but there was deffinately a "Puuuccckkkkker" factor.
I blew out an inner rear while towing with my GMC Crew Cab, and except for the noise, NO PROBLEM. Also the cornering performance is MUCH better. Remember our trucks have rather high center of gravities and can go over much easier with single rear wheels, than with dual rear wheels.
You muxt keep the rear tire sizes "rational" because of the required seperation on a Dualy.
