I read a post on another form about a guy in Oregon that got a pollution ticket as his truck blew too much black smoke. IIR the law in Oregon is if it blows black smoke for longer then 10 second you get to give money to the state if caught. As I recal he said the ticket was a very big ticket that was 5 digits long [:@]

If they can find u through all the smoke is whether or not u get the ticket.
As for becomeing illegal . I haven't heard any laws being passed in my part ofOhio yet.
I'm sure some cities are more strict than other but it doesn't seem to be problem here.

pfft .... when the whole USA comes to a screeching halt because these poor truckers can't drive and therefore goods aren't getting anywhere THEN they'll learn !!

That would be AWESOME if ALL truckers just went on strike for a week and stopped driving !!
That would do a world of good for diesel prices too. Problem is there are too many "me first"people that would cross the line and work anyway. I would join in on the no drive for a week with the truckers if I thought we could get 70% or better participation, my ram would sit idle for the whole week!

All this emissions regulations nonsense. I've seen New Jersey DOT on the side of a state highway pulling all the 18's over and placing a hose over the top of the exhaust to do an emissions test. If your truck pollutes too much, and it doesn;t have to be blowing out billowing clouds of smoke either, they can force you to have the engine rebuilt. You can either spend many several thousands of dolalrs to have it done or not ever go back to NJ again. Me personally I wouldn't ever go back but I know a guy that had this very thing happen to him and he runs through there all the time, had to rebuild it.
And yet another reason why I hate Jersey. Hell, you can't even pump your own fuel in that friggin state. Forget the whole toll scheme they have on that damn turn pike too.

They need to take NYC, LI and NJ......lump them all together and put a few large ribbon charges around the perimeter and sink the whole thing.

Amen, the last time I was in NJ I spent most of the time trying to figure out the fastest way out as soon as possible.
