Default silencer ring removal

So I took out the ring today and it sounds great!!!! My thoughts are as follows and invite your feedback/comments.

When I took out the ringI sawa large area around the fins that looked as if there were more air passages to the fins but was suprised to find that these are solid. MY thought is , will the removal of the ring slow down air movement to the turbo due to the abrupt stop the is caused by the removal of the ring. It is like hitting a wall at the end, on the out side of the intake tube. I would think that this ring added aerodynamics to the intake system. I hope that you can understand what I am trying to discribe. If you have removed your ring you will probably have looked and noticed the same thing.

Any thoughts??

Wes

After seeing pics of it I thought the same thing.
When I do mine I am going to take out the baffles instead.
That should allow the turbo to sing and still have a good airflow.

by baffels do you mean the fins in the last bend or the centre tube part that is highly restrictive. I took that out already and repalced ot with the airaid MIT which came with the JR Kit.

removing the ring isnt supposed to affect anything but sound. It was put in at DC's request to quiet the turbo down...

I found the same thing and felt the same way but I figured I would try it anyhow. I like the sound a lot and didn't change mpg or power that I could feel so I left it out.
