Default Hood insulation

Who's got it? Didn't think much about it till now, but there isn't any insulation on the bottom of my hood and all three of my buddies trucks have it.

Not complaining, that stuff is nasty when it get in your hair, also makes it hard to keep the engine clean when you have it apart. Everytime you bump it you get dirt down the engine. I was just wondering if it was to help keep heat in during the winter, all my buddies truck were sold here in WA, mine is a Texas truck.

Ive got it too!!!

believe its to protect the paint on the hood from excessive heat. i have seen older vehicles with the stuff gone and they have two big white spots right over the engine where paint used to be.

see it hangin in the top left corner of this pic????

not sure if I would agree. stealers like to blow smoke up your skirt as often as possible.

the car fires that happen on the freeways (almost daily it seems) here in the Phoenix area, are never snuffed by anything other than the good 'ol FIRE DEPT. ok, thats when rush hour traffic allows them to moesy on through

That is true, when I looked at the 2007 3500 the dealer went as far as trying to sell me on how strong the truck is by literally lifting himself up by putting all his weight on the top of the door, at that point I would not have bought that particular truck anyways.
