hey guys I just bought a 99 dodge ram cummins, well looong, sad story short the dealership ripped me off its been a week and today the transmission went out on the truck! I'm so pissed I can't even think strait, I have went to the dealer and they basically told me its a done deal and there was no warranty on the vehicle! Can someone in here give me some advice? I was looking into a bullet proof transmission does anyone know where I can find one for a really good price, thank you so much for any help/ advice

 

Depending on budget and mechanical ability. Try rebuilding it yourself.

 

Did they sell it as a "certified" used car or anything of that nature. Did anyone verbally tell you that it was checked out and in good condition. If so you may have a case, but they have more money to spend on lawyers so it may not be worth it to sue. If you know a lawyer personallyI would geet some advice from them. I would also meet with the general manager of the dealer and ask him to help (BE NICE FIRST), if he won't I would tell him you are going togo to the local news paper and radio / tv stations sometimes they have those "buyer be ware" type programs. Register a complaint with the BBB and anything else you can legally do to disrupt his business. Then follow through.

There are plenty of trans builders out there that will sell you a "bulllet proof" trans, but I have never heard cheap or inexpensive used in the same sentence. Good luck.

Can you be more specific? Maybe the TC took a dump, or the bands need to be adjusted, or maybe it just needs fluid...or maybe it droped it's guts on the pavement. A few details may help someone here give you some better advice than just replacing it.

 

well it started shifting erratically and then it like wouldn't shift until 3k rpm and sometimes wouldn't shift at all, and it takes forever for it to get going from dead stops, now its top speed is like 20 mph and there is tranny fluid all over the bottom of the pan. oh and the transmission was over full

 

some states have a law against this type of thing. . .even though it is sold as-is no warranty, the dealer has a time period to make any repairs to a used vehicle. the time may only be a week or two.

 

call your states attorney general office. they should be able to guide ya.

 

DOCCUMENT EVERYTHING !!!!!!

Every person you spoke with including dates and times, conversations, ect ect. Even if you think it's non-important, doccument it.

START RIGHT NOW while it's still fresh in your head !!!

I believe every dealer has to warranty their cars for 30 days from date of purchase. Don't let up, and use every resource !!

well I went to the bank and I tried to cancel the loan and they said I had to deal with the dealership becuase they couldn't do anything about it, well I called the dealership and I told them what happened to the truck and he said that there was a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty on it, so he had me take it to the big o that does all their work and they are going to put a new transmission in it, the only problem I have now is I have a 77 ford with a 460 in it that gets 6 mpg and it probably takes atleast a couple of weeks for a transmission to be put in doesn't it?
