jakebrake is exactly right. Git rid of tha stupid intake baffle. Helps the truck breathe better and you hear the whine of the turbo a little better. Mine does get a bit loud around 2400 RPM, pulling a 5th wheel over a 6% grade at a steady 58mph. Love it. Have to back it down when the EGT nears 1200 degrees because the turbo is spooled at 28psi. Still, I think it sounds much better than my old Ford. Blows the doors off the wheezing PSDs, too, and I'm a STOCK CUMMINS. Just running 5" Banks monster exhaust and AFE stage II intake.
Although Ford does have those cool flames shooting out the pipe to go with that jet whistle.[sm=escape.gif]
Sorry I didn't reply any sooner. I don't have any pics of the old baffle. I have an 04 3500. The baffle was in the intake between the factory filter box and the engine. The reason the stock airbox is quiet is because of the baffle. Take the baffle out, you getmore noise. I'm not sure about this silencer ring. I had somebody else do my exhaust. If there was a ring in it, I never saw it. I have an all new exhaust pipe, including the muffler.
is the intake baffle the curved plastic fins inside the air intake tube? i wonder if theres a purpose to all this stuff like baffle, silencer ring etc...?
