Default CAT c6.6L

was down at cat the other day and overheard that they were looking at getting the c6.6 into light duty trucks. Right now its rated for 150 horse but could possibly be rated up to 250 horse with over 700ft lbs. It's just a rumor though, couldn't find anyone that could confirm it. Here's a pic so you can dream though.

Just don't get a new Cat motor with that Acert technology. I hear they're junk. At least in the semi trucks that is.

Acert isn't too bad, the only irritating part is on the heavyduty engines and thats all the piping for the dual turbos. Actually cat is one of the better ones, insted of using the problematic egr sytems, they use acert tech. Their new 2007 compliant engines are looking good compared to other engine manufactures

What are they talking about putting them in Jake? One of the big 3, or something new altogether? Toyota maybe?

Just rumors that they were going to try to get them into a pickup, not sure what brand or what kinda time frame. That engine will have to be worked over before it can go on-highway (has to meet 07 emissions). Right now it is strictly off-highway.

I think two months ago, in Diesel Power magazine, they had a F-650 with a cat engine in it, and it was street legal and everything. I don't know if it was an aftermarket thing or what, because I have no idea what they put in a F-650, let alone seen one in person.

that would be the C7 more than likely in that f-650- 7.2L iirc. you can personally order you one and trick it out if you got some serious cash here http://www.f650pickups.com/
of course now they come with, of course, the new 6.7.

I don't know. Maybe Ford would be looking for a new diesel provider...
