Default What Guages

Hey All...

This may be a dumb question, but this rig is my first diesel, and Im learning the ropes. I have no upgrades to my motor...bone stock. But I was wondering if there are any type of guages I would need to keep a better eye on the motor...and how things are lookin?

If So, what do I need, and can I get them from the dealer? Im not the strongest mechanic and would be a little bit nervous of workin on my newer rig. Im used to workin on Gasser International Scouts....

pyrometer & boost gauges are a good start, then tranny temp is another nice one to have.

the hardest would be the pyro since you have to drill and tap your exhaust manifold.

had my boost and pyro installed and running in about an hour and a half.

You only need tranny temp gauge if you have an auto. Us manual drivers only need egt and boost pressure gauges. As for the brand I have danin pricol gauges. They were a little more than other gauges but I liked them because they so closely matched the oem dash gauges. It might be that your dealer would install them if you can't find anyone else or dont want to do them yourself but I would suggest you first search around cummins/ram internet forums like this because there have been tons of writeups on the subject with photos etc. Its not that big of a deal.
