Dodge 600 Diesel--- True 600 or not?
I recently bought a 04 2500 Diesel 4X4. I was told by the "Sales Person" that it was the new 600.
I have been told that the 600 is marked on the outside under the Cummings Emblem. How do you tell if it is an actual 600 or not? The date of MFG on the Engine is stated 02/03/04.
Please let me know how I can tell if it has a True "600" or not.

Not true....the 600 came out half way through the 04 model year...if you have an early 04 it could be what was then known as the High-Output. However, it is NOT on the badge on the front fenders....they all just say Cummins Turbo Diesel....Check out your window sticker, or ask your service dept to check your VIN number.

Let me re-phrase that, I understood that he recently bought meant he has purchased within the last few weeks a new Cummins truck. Around here that means it is fresh off the line because they don't sit on the lot for more than a couple weeks. So if it is a fresh built Cummins 04 then it is almost certainly a 600.

I'll look on the data plate on my engine again and check to see the manufactureing date. I know mine is the 600.
I believe another way to tell is if on the data plate it states it's 325 horse since the 555 lb-ft engine only had about 300 horse, or 290, something around there.
