Default Hard starting

My 2006 CTD on occasion is really hard to start it will crank for 15 - 20 seconds before it will start but most of the time it will fire right up. Has anyone else had this problem? I have tried to turn the key to the on position thinking that I did not give the lift pump time to pressurize but this did not help.

I have not noticed but I will check. My wife has been driving it most of the time since I got a company vehicle. she said that it is getting worse so I will take it and see. What would the smoke indicate?

If there is smoke, that means it's getting fuel and the injectors are trying to fire, possibly low fuel pressure and things like that . If no smoke I would think it would be a bad crank sensor or something along those lines.

I guess I will take it to the stealership for warranty work. I am a little worried about that because the last time they had it for the Month of January!
