How much oil blowby is normal for a truck with 22k miles on it? There is alot of oil blowby coming out of the blowby tube and i was just wondering if this is normal due to the rings not being seated yet. It also looks like my front drive shaft seal is leaking, but i cant tell if it is fluid or oil blowby. I guess i will just keep an eye on it.

Mine is damp inside the vent tube but does not drip on the ground nor is it making anything wet under the truck. My first guess would be thatyours is over full of oil. I have read that if you over fill this engine it will pump it right back out that vent tube. If you have "topped off" your oil I bet that is the culprit. My truck is very weird to check the oil, if it is off levelfront to back or side to side a little bit it will check low. Hope this helps.

to accuratly get a measurement, you'll need gauges and an adapter fitting. If you had something that would cause a lot of blowby, you'd know it. If the rings were gone, you'd be burning oil.

i had the same symptoms with my 06 at about 5k... it is your front pinion seal leaking and the drive shaft is spinning gear lube all over the under carriage and soaking the pumpkin. there was another guy on here that had the same problem with his 06 too.

i thought it was the blow-by as well, but nope. if you wipe some of it off you'll notice that it is more viscous than motor oil and it is not all sooty. smells better too, lol

the dealership changed it out and i haven't had a problem since. use that warranty!

I got tired of the oily smell so I made an extension for the vent tube out of PVC. Works like a charm. Here are some pics ...

How long did it take the dealer to fix the seal. I have some mods to my truck so hopefully the dealer will still do the warranty work.

Shouldn't take more than 2 hrs to replace a pinion seal. It's a real quick and easy job.
