Really?

Then why would you need a switch? Why would you want to un-flick it?

1 - In some areas they don't allow the use of them because of the noise they generate. BRRRRRRRrrrrrrr!

2 - If you want to coast, it makes it kinda hard to do when you have 170 HPtrying to slow downthe truck.

3 - They generate quite a bit of heat when they are engaged. The turbo feels most of it.

That right there brother is heat soak!

Think about a cast iron frying pan. That puppy does cool down real quick and any thing left in it continues to cook.

Sorry, back the regularly scheduled program....

Well I got my truck Friday morning, Man is it work great. I am in Alabama know spending the night. Thebrake works real good. It is not load at all. I mean you have to turn the radio down to hear it. It really helped on the HWY when people pull in front of you I never had to press the break. Even with the cruise on when you go down a heel it will slow you down. It cost me $1750 installed and has a 3/36 warranty. It was worth it!!Well got to go to bed for the drive to NC in the morning.

When you let off the throttle, the exhaust brake kicks in, but when you give it throttle, it will stop. With an auto, you could leave the switch on all the time because you only let off the fuel when you need to slow down. With a manual, you want to turn it off because everytime you let off the throttle to shift, it will kick in and "brake" your acceleration between gears. If you have a stick AND an exhaust brake, you might as well forget about your regular brakes because they'll last forever!

You don't have to turn it off with a manaul, you just have to time your clutching perfectly so there is no gap between letting off throttle and clutching. Pressing the clutch also disengages the jake brake.

If it is wired in the ECM there is a 3 second delay before the exhaust brake kicks in. So when you shift gears on a manual, it never kicks in unless you shift gears real slow. I leave mine on almost all the time, even when not towing. I got over 100k on my first set of brake pads. It is annoying in stop and go traffic and when you idle a lot, so it doesn't make sense to have it on then. It also works off of back pressure so if you don't have at least 1500-1600 rpms or more, it does not do much good.
