Default edge / warrenty void?

just curious, and i know i might of been able to fish it out of archives but its faster to ask.... is the edge juice w/ additude a chip or progammer or both? i have one coming in the mail and im curious now if it will affect my warrenty. if this unit tracable even after an un-install b4 bringing it to the dealer for warrenty work? anything you guys have to say would be much appreciated!

u can alwase tell if a chip or program stuff has been used even in the computer software. Now if u go crazy with it change injectors and stuff like that yeah it will void. A simple software change where u add more fuel for the power boost then no it wont voil unless like i said u go crazy to the point it snaps stuff.

Depending on the dealer as not all are as **** about it but the EDGE if left installed itwill void your warranty even if only run in stock mode. The Edge is a module, not a programmer or a chip replacement.Tractability is questionable as the Edge does not modify soft wear in the computerof the truck, itmanipulates data from the engine to the computer andthe fueling commands from the computer to the injectors. This means that even if removed prior to taking it in for service, some historical data stored on the trucks computer may show that the truck was operated at levels higher then they could if bone stock. The dealer may see this and then he may still give you a hard time but the general rule of thumb is if you play you pay. I personally remove mine when I bring it in as I do not want to complicate my lifeand avoid themgiving me a hard time about it. I have a pinion seal leak under investigation right now and it has nothing to do with my Edge, with it removed they just look at the seal, if the edge had been installed they would have denied it out right even with out it being responsible for the leak.

thanks for them post's guys[sm=smiley32.gif]... im going to go ahead with the install just because i have always wanted it but i was curious on to what "could" happenen worse case senario. im glad i went with the right module, it seems that a chip or programmer seem to be more advanced and tracable in me eyes. just out of curiousity when everyone talks about removing it prior to service does this mean just the edge juice or the additude guage along with every wire?

I was talking to the diesel tech at the dealer and he said that alot of the time it comes down to the tech himself as to warranty issues and whether or not they void warranty onstuff. So I guess I'll leave some Krispy Kremes on the seat for him
