The old fords had decent desiels, before I got my current truck I had a 1983 with the international 6.9 in it. That thing was a beast, slow, but a beast. It would accelerate the same when I had 15000 pounds behind it as it would when it was empty, slowly. It still ran a year ago when it got retired. I got tired of replacing the glow plugs, so I disconnected them and put in an ether start. I suppose that made it hard for anyone to ever steal it, the wait to start light wouldn't go off until the truck ran for a while and warmed up and it wouldn't start unless you hit the button under the dash. I say welcome.
