I don't know. What should I do? Should I buy an older one with less miles? Should I try to find a mechanic? Should I just not worry about it and buy it anyways?

If you do wind up with this truck, get the KDP tabbed if it is not done so already.

Mechanic is only going to be able to tell the obvious like oil leaks, brakes and such. I would take a few tools and pop one of the valve covers off and look at the valves, see if the stems are beat to hell. Also pull of the intake tube off the turbo and see how the fins and the side to side movement in it. Other than that, you know what to look for, oil leaks, brake pads, shocks ect. Just use your best judgement. It looks like a clean truck, I say go for it.

I called and talked to him today. He said that the only think wrong with it is the paint (flaky), but I am not picky about that. He also said he owned it since it had 160,000 which he put on 35,000. He drives on the highway a lot. 22mpg. I think he is looking for a 4x4, but not sure. I told him that I might be able to come up with the money this week. He also said he had to replace a starter, fuel line (it started leaking).
Also, Jakebrake, you said take some tools and pop "one" of the valve cover. I thought it only had one? I think it looks like a great deal. And, if I have the chance, I am pretty sure I will go for it. Thanks for all your help. I am still open to all opinions and suggestions on this matter. Thanks from a "hopefully" soon to be Cummins owner (the best of course)

12v have one valve cover for each cylinder. I think it is a 13mm to get the valve cover off.

Oh, I did not know that, I thought all of them had 1 valve cover. Well, you do know diesel. I was also thinking about this bad *** truck. Although it is older, but it is completely bad ***!!! I was thinking if I got this one, I might be able to win truck of the month and **** more daks off......ha ha ha. Here it is............http://salem.craigslist.org/car/350637827.html

I think I would go with this one, because: It is 4x4, I do hunt and like to go off-roading. It is a dually....I love them. I like the older style better. It has a pretty new engine. It is a flatbed. I can't thing of any more. Please, give me feedback!!!

I don't want to sound gay or anythinng but yellow it my favorite color. I actually wanted your style of truck, but as long as its a cummins, I don't care. Here is another choice. I will let you decide between the yellow flatbed and this one.........http://salem.craigslist.org/car/350637827.html
