On the highway, my Edge shows the intake temp always 12 degrees hotter than the thermometer on the overhead. I guess it's just due to the under hood temps.
lol, 100~105 is awesome, gives the best performance IMO... I've seen 130~135 on my edge when I had it... remember Sacramento... I wonder what Sharky gets his up to...
What is your boost at going down the highway? You're cold air intake is doing just fine if your temps are that. Mine where in the 90's or so cruising at 80 if I was only pulling 6 pounds of boost or less. The reason they are warmer than ambient is because you are pulling a little boost, compression makes things heat up. The aftercooler takes some of the heat out, but thermal systems are never 100 percent efficient. That's just my 2 cents.
the only way to drop the intake temp would be to close up the new filter housing and port it directly to the front grill. this would eliminate most of the engine compartment heat from direct contact to the filter. my 93 has the stock filter housing, it has the intake on the bottom just below the headlight.
