Default How to Lower EGT's

How do I lower the EGTs on my truck? I have not done anything to the intake other than remove the baffle on the stock air box. The intercooler, turbo, injectorsand exhaust are all stock. I have a hypertech programmer and leave it on 3 all the time.

I tow a 10k horse trailer around several times a month, other than that, the truck is used for daily driving.

I have all the power I need, so I am not really concerned with getting more. I also do not want to make the truck louder than it already is.

Any suggestions would be great.

yank the muffler and put in one that is a flow thru. the stock muffler is very restrictive, if you can move those gasses away from the engine and turbo quicker you will lower your EGT's.

That's kinda what I was thinking.

Loose the muffler ( go with an Aero ... ) and maybe just do a turbo back system in 4" rather than the 3.5 that you probably have now. That'll get things flowing and lower your EGT's.

Even if you just replace your current muffler with the 3.5 Aero and loose the resonator that'll STILL be better than the stock muffler. Just as Drew said, that stock muffler is pretty restrictive, and if it's still the stock one, I'll bet it's pretty clogged up with crap. Loose it !!

I agree w/ the post above. The less money way is free flowing muffler and drop in a good air filter.

Now if you have money to burn. You can replace the IC, bigger turbo/ or twins, exhuast manifold and different tuner. You'll keep your truck in check for sure then.[sm=bounceybounce.gif]

Will the aero make it louder? Which model number should I replace it with?

It'll be a little louder, but honestly not much. At least I don't think so. I had just replaced my tailpipe, so I didn't want to buy another so I bought the Aero that fit my stock system. Maybe that's why mine isn't as loud ( again to ME anyway ) as others have complained. I left the stock downpipe, however I lost the resonator. Because I removed the resonator I went with the resonated Aero. I'm exactly not sure what size your system is, but I BELIEVE youalso have the 3.5" system just as I do. If that is the case, go with the 3535XL Aero, loose the resonator, and mount the Aero back where the stock muffler was. Unfortunately I don't have an EGT gauge yet so I can't tell you exactly what the temp drop was, howeverI CAN tell you that when I start my trucknow it blows the bush along side of my truck whereas with my stock muffler the bush didn't even wiggle. That thing is MOVING some air, so I KNOW it'salso lowered my EGT's.

Any other question, feel free to ask. Here are some pics ...
