I use one like this. I change my filter from above with the ziplock bag trick. I still haven't tried that grease on the o-ring instead of oil Jake. I almost tried it last time, but I chickened out. Something about it makes me nervous. I feel like the grease is going to burn the filler on or something. I'm weird.

Someone else here uses this type.

Smoeday maybe I'll give it a try. It looks pretty cool.

Do some guys put grease on the oil filter gasket? Is that supposed to be better than motor oil?

Ummmm, the only thing the oil (or grease) on the gasket does is keep the dry gasket from getting pulled out of position when tightening. The filter ring does not get hot enough to burn oil or grease. Oil or grease should work equally fine.

I dont remember who posted the ziplock bag trick but I know I learned it off this site. I have been changing my own oil since I got my first ride at the age of 16 and this is by far the best trick ever.

Jake mentioned that he uses grease instead of oil on the gasket. He says it's makes it easier to take the filter off next time.

I believe it was Drew who first mentioned the bag trick. Props to him !!!
