Default 05 transmission problems

Hi im new to the forum just got a used 05 2500 quad cab CTDbought 3 months ago my problem is from a stop goin real slow threw like a neiborhood it seems to go back and forth between 1st and 2nd really fast till i step on the gas than it goes to 1st than as long as i stay on the gas it goes threw all 4 gears fine no slipping. the second problem is when im crusing about 35-40 im guessing and i stomp the gas theres a long pause like slipping between grears like 2-4 seconds i was wondering is it the tranny or Torque converter and what can i do to fix the problem, only got 49,000 on the truck but just put a 5"turbo back exhaust with no cat and my bullydog power pup with outlook monitor will be in this week so i dont think the dealer will help much

Was it ever serviced? Filter may be clogged (two filters)

sounds like a valve body problem... mines getting swapped out today for the same 1st/2nd gear problem. I will let you know how it goes... there is a possibility it could be the throttle position sensor getting noisy

Welcome to DF!

Steve.

I thought you already had a built VB in your trans before it was rebuilt? So what did you do to it to make it give you1-2 gear hunting problems?

I did, I dont have any confidence in it right now. when we installed it and adjusted the bands, it was good for a while then started acting up again in 2nd gear. swapping it out will either fix it or tell me there is another problem that is not the valve body. The tranny shop owner is telling me the kit he's installing into the valve body will firm up the shifts even more than the one I have now. time will tell.. it's supposed to be ready to go now for an install today.

I've used Amsoil trans fluid in every Dodge I've owned for the past 7 years with out any problems. As for the filter I used one from Dodge on my truck when I changed it out last month but the Wix filter is a good one too.
