Default TST Economy program mini review...

Well it's been about 250 miles on the econo tst program and I can say I am impressed... with the box set at 2/2, the turbo spools much faster and most of the time I have to keep an eye on my speeds so i'm constantly letting off the throttle. Mileage is the same as the standard TST program set to 1 but there is alot more power. I have a hard time keeping my foot out of it so it's hard to say how much better the mileage could be at this point.

anyways, just thought i'd toss that out there for anyone who is interested...

Thanks for the info. Once I havea chance to look at mine some more, I'll have to check that out. Last tank was 17.9 mpg.

if you press your middle button, then the up arrow you should have access to the upper menus... that is where the other features are. the next time you go out to your truck try it and let me know...

I just tried it and nothin'

This is the order of my menu's:
Press middle button once: EGT screen (I also noticed that if I change the high EGT, that value doesn't save)
Press middle button twice: TE screen
Press third time: Box temp.

I've tried holding the middle button down, does nothing until I let go and then it switches to the next screen. I've tried pressing the middle button and the up arrow at the same time. that doesn't work.

I checked my serial number and it's 42xx something or other. Think that has anything to do with it?

Thanks,

What does yourEGT run w/ the TST? I never really looked into the TST, but I know some guys that run them. Is it a pressure box or timimg/duration or all three? I also heard it can be alittle to much power w/ the TST unless you get proper upgrades to make it work smooth. Not good for a stock or semi stock truck. Is that true?

The TST can be hard to run on a fully stock truck. The biggest problem is the fueling. It adds a ton of it and unless you have a up graded lift pump, it's real easy to run the rail dry. Because of the added fuel, a turbo and CAI would be highly recommended to get rid of the EGT's. The stock turbo can only handle so much.

Then you have the tranny. It's pretty stout but, to much getting on it will take a toll on the tranny. I barely ever noticed my TQ slipping but, when I upgraded my trans the TQ was pretty burnt from the slipping. It was only a matter of time before it went! Best thing for this is you do get a TST is to leave the torque off. You'll get more power without to much hell on the trans.

if you're looking for something to just help with mpg's... I'd look into something else.

Steve is right.... the middle button , then the up arrow, then the middle again to scroll through the functions. you'll be able to hit the middle button several times before you get to the end. In what I've read around the forums and in my own experience, these are optimal settings....

3 power, 2 torque, rail pressure off, timing 12, TT03. I never ran a 3/2 myself though... stock stuff don't like it

Chewy your s/n is on an old box so you wont be able to have the R49 programming... SN's 5000 & up have the capability to change the programming & thus upgrade to the R49... this is what I did.

As far as a TST on a stock truck, you should have no problem as long as your in the lower settings. 3/3 is about max for a stock truck & tranny. Unless your plan is to run around in the higher settings all the time, then you want open intake & exhaust... otherwise egt's will get to high & it'll defuel anyway.

whoops, didn't realise he had the older box. I know though when I was on the stock LP if I tried to run 3/3 the rail would go down to 2 and 3psi at WOT and it would defuel. Nothing really woroked but, 2/0 but... I suppose all trucks can be different.
