My 6.7L finally fixed, I hope!
Well, the dealership finally called to let me know they could squeeze my6.7L 2500HD 4X4 Q/C in for aservice. My original appointment was not until 9 July, 3 weeks after my Malfunction Indicator Light came on.After talking with the diesel tech, he said that they reprogrammed the PCM to 18-033-07 Rev. B. Then drove the truck for 45 minutes to makethe "Exhaust System After Generation" clean itselfout.I then asked him about the original code the PCM was throwing (P0242), and he said that it was all related tothe particulate filterfilling up and not regenerating on it's own.
I was still experiencing the blinking MIL when I turned the key to the "on" positionand waited for the dash tests to finish. I took the truck back to the service department and showed him what was happening. He had other 6.7L's infor service and checked those, and all were blinking in the "on" position during the dash test. The owners manual statesthat the blinking MIL indicates that the PCM can't complete the emissions testing.I'm not sure what to think there, maybe a few more trucks with the same issue will tellthe story.
Anyway, my truck is back running and I'm enjoyingevery second of it.
I hope my long awaited experience helps some. If anyone has had a similar experience please post.

Revision B?!? Last I heard was revision A.
Did they put a sticker in your engine compartment (front driver's side)? Does it have a part number or other information on it?
Glad you were able to get in to the service dept before 9 July!

I just checked and there is a new silver/gray sticker on the front drivers side engine compartment. Hand written in the comments block it states "reprogrammed pcm with bootloader & application software" then it hasa "by authority" block with 18-033-07 Rev B written in then the dealership code and the date the reprogram was completed.
Hope this helps...

There are several on this forum with much more knowledge on this than I...
On the new 2007s with the 6.7L CTD, there are several new emissions components added to meet the Federal 2010 emissions standards. Included in the components is the particulate filter/canister that collects pollutants rather than releasing themthrough the exhaust system. With time this filter begins to clog or fill up. The PCM monitors the entire system and is supposed to burn the pollutants up (regenerating) thuscleaning out the filter. However, many are still unsure of just how "clean" the filter is getting as the by product of the"regenerating" process is ash, which can still fill up the particulate canister. In time (how much seems to depend on driving style) the canister will need to be cleaned out or replaced.

In due time many of us will probably do that, but the whole system is so tightly controlled by the PCM that it is still unclear as to what perfomrance mods will be available.I think it is just a matter of a little(a lot) of R&D to get past the PCM.

Trying to see if the part number has actually changed.
Thanks!
