Well I was towing my horse trailer my horse and my wifes big fat horse about (12.5k total weight) up a 5% grade for 4 miles and I hit 1400 on the EGT read out about half way up. I imediately down shifted and the EGT dropped to high 1100 thru low 1200 as long as I kept the speed at around 55-60 MPH.The temp gauge also hit 240 at the top of the hill. I really hated backing off because I had a lot of space between the pedal and the floor and the truck would have easily stayed at 70MPH. I know that I can reduce the EGTs by replacing the stock exhaust, but what about the water temp? Will that go down too?
yup. you had alot of heat being soaked into the head and the cooling system had to take care of that as well. better flow in + better flow out = reduced EGT's.
wouldnt hurt to check your air filter and make sure it isnt too dirty.
How about AERO - AERO - AERO - AREO ? J/K Seriously, I hit 1000 post turbo towing about 8K last weekend. So that equals 1400 pre turbo right? Is it okay to hit those temps?
