Mayfair - what is that wire you used for the lights, and whats the color, and what bundle is it in? Thanks

 

I THINK it was pink and it's in that bundle under the steering wheel. Just use a test light. You'll find it. Make sure you have your lights turned on, and then once the test light lights up, push the lights off. If the test light goes out, you're good to go.

Why did you mount the pyro probe post-turbo? Most people mount them in the manifold pre-turbo don't they?

 

I just got done installing an Auto Meter fuel pressure gauge and have some installation info that I think may be of help. I have a 98.5, 2500. The sender was an easy install. I installed it into the same hole in the fuel filter canister as seen in this post. I ran the wires through the same hole in the firewall, but was able to pull that flap partially out, run the wires through and reinstall the plug without doing any cutting. As for the rest of the wiring, I thought this was a bit more difficult and had trouble finding which wires to splice into. I first had to remove the dash and the cover below the steering wheel. I then removed the 3 screws on the headlight switch and pulled that out from the dash. I also removed the pillar. To install the light, I ran the positive wire through a hole on the left of the dash and behind where the headlight switch goes. There is a tan wire that goes into the back of the headlight switch. This is the one you want to splice into. This not only turns the light on when you turn the headlights on, but it allows you to dim the light as well. The negative wire I ran to a ground on the solid piece of metal below the steering wheel. The positive wire for the gauge itself I ran down below the steering wheel and behind the stereo to the cigarette lighter's positive wire. This wire can be accessed by removing the cup holder. The ground wire I ran to the same place as the ground for the gauge light. The cig lighter is a good place to run your positive because the gauge will shut off when the ignition is in the off position. I hope this helps anyone who started off as dumb as I did.

 

thanks for the write up been searching for this for some time on cumminsforum.com and could not find any write ups.... this helps alot... only thing is i read that it is not good to install the fuel senser on top the fuel filter housing due to vibrations and will damage the senser fairly quick... is this true?????
