Default CTD

How many miles is a CTD realistically capable of getting under normal use and good upkeeping?

I had posted about a friend having a truck that looks to have a VP44 going out. Well he decided to buy a new truck instead of fixing it. I am able to pick the truck up for $5600. It is a 2001 extended cab 4wd, 6 spd. with 240,000 miles. Is it worth it to buy the truck and put a pump on it. It needs some front end work due to wear, like ball joints and such (no big deal). Im just curious if it is common for them to get enough miles out of them to last a decent while more.

A buddy has one w/ 475,000 on it .
The only thing he's replaced is a couple of lift pumps and a alternator.
Other than that it's been a great truck.
I guess some people get luckier than others.
Also some trucks are just built better too.

I saw a duramax that had 676k on it the other day, I've heard of cummins out doing that, of course you will have like alternators, tie rods, regular wear and tear, but if you take care of it the main engine components shouldn't wear out. I mean the cummins engine is basically a miniture semi truck engine and 1/2 the trucks at where I work (all long haul trucks) have 500k on them and the other half are higher. Diesel motors on top of that don't really break in until 100k at least. of course some are different and there are lemons.

SCHNIKEEEEYS!

That is a lot of driving. Averaging 120,000 a year is crazy enough, I only do about 6-8k and I think I drive alot. I would have sold the truck at 150,000, lol. Well since the clock has rolled over he can sell it with very low milage.

I hope to be in the million mile club someday. I wonder what it looks like?
