RE: We're off...
the box behind the little woman is a bear box... you shove all of your food, tooth paste, mouth wash etc in there... Anything that has an oder will attract bears, racoons and anything else that can smell it. I havent had any problems in that area but in some of the more popular spots like yosemite, lassen & yellowstone, bears are a big problem.
One of those snakes was close to 3' long... we were supprised to see 2 of them. one of the pics has 3 fish in it also...
As for Jr... yeah he suffers big time... since both of his sisters moved up north, he, the dog & the little woman all get to put up with me lol... [sm=badbadbad.gif]
On a sadder note... the area we just left is getting pounded by a nasty thunder storm right now... the news stations are reporting 797 lightning strikes in the area just east of where we were. That is also the Aug 4th trail run area... hope it doesnt burn. the good thing is the storm has rain to go along with it, minimizing the potential for fires. Currently we have 2 or 3 fires in CA that are lightning strike caused... this is the downside to living here in CA...

with hurricanes there is not much you can do except improve building codes to help build stronger structures... with wild fires, there is not much you can do... I've seen controlled burns that are designed to cut down the growth to prevent a bigger fire. even those have gotten out of hand.
