I had a K&N cold air intake on my '05 GMC 2500HD which worked great. I'm skeptical to do anything to my '07 Ram yet due to theemissions issues.

It seems a lot of people like the bhaf because the size extends the life of the filter. Just make sure you get a dry filter.

Why a dry filter? Inseveral of the filter articles I've read, many say an oiled filter is best as long as you clean it and don't over oil it.

you have to clean those filters from time to time, and oil them. . .most people just put them in and go. besides, the actual filter media is very loose and will allow large particles to enter the intake if not properly maintained.

Ive gone well more than 2x the distance on my BHAF than I did with the stock filter. yea it was worth it. my next filter will probably be one of them amsoil cone filter deals that are re-usable. just blow them out from time to time with some shop air.

I'm using the AFE stage II. It's an oiled type of filter, I realize it can create problems if over oiled. I actually had this happen to me many years ago with an K&N. I'm told and I agree that the oiled types are alright but one must not over oil them and also let them dry throughly. I like the Stage II, which is a replacement tube to the turbo. It looks more airstream and has a larger diameter untill mating with the turbo. I also had looked at the dry type filters, but the shop that installed my ATS transmisson practically gave it to me due to some minor issues that day. Just couldn't refuse an offer like that. I see an improvement in the breatheability, but be forewarned......she howles a bit. The turbo sound is definately louder. I'm alright with that due to my exhaust being louder as well ..........what the hell!

I have a K&N, but if i had to replace it with something I think I'd go with the Amsoil one that you clean up with a compressor. I haven't heard anything bad about those yet whereas all of the others have their pros and cons.

I have had the amsoil filter for about 5000 miles now and think it is great. Before that I had a K&N drop in replacement that lasted about 5 years but definately not as long as they tell you can run them. The Amsoil does sound like a jet engine though without the silencer ring and no air box, just a heat shield.
