Default loss of power

i have a 2001 3\4 ton dodge diesel 24 valve cummins. coming home from work in about a 8 mile distance my truck lost power 4 times. there was no acceleration when i put the pedal to the floor,it only lasted for about 5 to 10 seconds at the most.the truck now has a 0216 code, does that mean the injector pump is already bad or could i just replace the lift pump?

if you haven't already, I'd check the fuel filter. If you are still running on your stock lift pump, it's a very good possibility it's going bad. It's a common thing to happen.

your code P0216 = Injection Timing Control Circuit Malfunction......... this is a sign of your VP44 failing ( fuel pump ). Time to look into a rebuild or new one.

I would put new fuel filter and a lift pump and go from there, (drive it around for a while and see if your vp44 survived. )
