YEP, removing your ring ( NC ) can easily be done. Check out the top of the boards for the DIY thread. In it you'll find the thread covering how to remove it.

To remove the 6.7 silencer, there are three "pins" that are pressed through the housing 120 Degrees apart where your intake attaches to the turbo. Just drill them out and the ring comes out. Just saw one removed at the ATS open house. Looks like there are two different setups. Mine was like a hose clamp, but the one I saw was just the pins and out it came.

The hardest part is getting the stuff out of the way to get to the ring.[sm=icon_rofl.gif]

Also you can take the inards out of the muffler housing on the intake (little black cylinder with some crosses and such) Mine on the 03 was located just before the first rubber 90 degree (not exactly accurate guess but close enough to 90 more like 100 but ehh) Just take it a part cut the top of the cylinder closest too the airbox the innards will pull right out. I'm going to do another for a buddy so I'll put the DIY up with pics. pretty simple. Dremel would be probably best tool and time. I didn't have enough time so I used a table saw. Hence the reason I didn't post pics. Fairly ugly and such but make sure you leave enough lip (not hard to do) so the rubber housing can re attach. This improves your whine GREATLY! Now get some cheese and you'll be set.

I removed the silencer ring today and removed the stuff from the intake tube. I just used a hand saw and cut the crosses out of it maybe took 5 mins max. I figured that would be better than cutting the housing. Ill try to post pics later today

If all you did was cut the "crosses" out, then you still have the rings running up the inside of the tube. If you cut the end off of the "housing" then everything will come out and leave you with a smooth walled tube.
