Default Check engine light/trouble codes

Need help. Yesterday i was driving my 02 Ram Cummins diesel, the check engine light came on and the truck lost power. This lasted a minute or so with wery little power from the engine and then it was fine again, but the engine light is still on and i downloaded the touble codes and got: PCU-1693 and ECU-1689.What does the codes mean? The pcu-1693 code disapeared when i try to erase, but the ECU code is still there.
Anyone who can help me???

if I'm not mistaken. . .the 1693 is the code of death. get your lift pump replaced NOW. do not run the truck untill you do or you will dammage the VP44. . .and that is about $2K

No There was no smoke at all.
I drove the truck today again an the check engine light disapeared for a while but it soon came back and same loss of power for a while, it actually stalled. Tried staring it up again, engine light on,but it had full power again.
Maybe it is the lift pump failing? The truck has just rounded99000 kilometers.
Dont knowat what mileage the lift pump`s normaly faile?

If you continue to try and drive / start your truck with a bad lift pump you WILL kill your VP-44 !!!

STOP DOING IT !!!!!

Replace your lift pump with soething better than the stock one, something like the FASS and your VP-44 will thank you. Continue to starve your VP-44 of fuel and it WILL retaliate with a replacement cost of around 2 GRAND.

wouldn't his beconsidered 2nd gen? it has the older bodystyle? They didn't switch to the new design until 03. And engines sound a bunch quieter in 03 than the 02 which is still the old cummins rattlecan sound.

yes. . .in 03 with the intorduction of the HPCR (High Pressure Common Rail) engine the injectors fired twice per stroke, this gave a bump in engine performance, and also quieted things down since the air charge had been heated up from the initial fuel charge. in 04.5 this went to three injection events to satisfy CARB, this was when the 325hp '600' engine was allowed for sale in california and dodge did away with the HO, SO and Cali output engines.
