After noon guys, have a question, I'm in a 99 automatic, q/c Is it practicly exspected to hear/feel (sometimes, not always)a slight( sometimes more pronounced, sometimes less)(what I call ) an engagement "bump" when pullingaway (no load) after easy stop, I've checked the following, univercels drive line, rear componets,
140k on orignal tranny, interestingly enough when I do have a load ir rarely does this I thought, "Oh theres some free play some where, to date can't find out where ,, and what would a load change those properties?[:@]
Any help?

 

if the u-joints were bad the only time you would realy hear them would be when putting the tranny in gear.

sounds like you may have a solinoid probelm.

 

Oh ,, great, thank you for the time, and while I have your attentionis that solenoid something that is friendly to check at home, say with a turkey baster or toaster, or am I headed down to the tranny shop?

 

before I go much farther let me ask this. with this 'bump' you speak of. ..to you see the engine tach go up in rpm's and then fall back down???

 

Hey and thanks, I just went out and tested your suggestion, rpm does not change, at all.
I then tried several attempts to get it to act up. After 7 attempts it did it 3 times in forward and 2 in reverse, and nothing during 3 attempts, it will also do it afterletting the truck,
pull itself (no throttle)(only idle) up to a slightly higher speed,maybe around 12 to 16 mph, does it just after I get above 900 rpm’s, truck idles at aprox 800 rpm.

Also couldtorque converter be "in drain" or back draining?

 

this might sound weird. . .but check these two items. . .the main ground from the batteries. clean and re-attach. also check out the transmission wireing harness to make sure no wires have been chaffed or cut by a hanger.

Drew, is there a slip splined connection on the drive shaft of his vehicle? If so the Ferds had asimilar issue that was corrected by lubing the spline with a heavy grease.

 

Ok well I checked everything you mentioned, (thanks again), everything looked just fine, I went ahead and cleaned the neg side of both posts and terminals just in case. I guess we'll see....
anything you care to add I'll be watching,,
