there realy isnt much you can do with turbo's. change the compressor houseing, but then you get different characteristics of how it spools and cools EGT's.

Ive pulled them apart before. . .you have to be VERY carefull or you will knock a bearing out. you can also pull that TAG out. . .Ive heard they tend to bust in half.

So the turbo should be fine or should I be looking at a new turbo? I talked to ATS, Industrial Injection, and HTT about turbos and ATS said the 3000, Industrial said either the super 62 or the silver 62, while HTT said the 62/71/14 any other suggestions or thoughts? If I can keep the turbo I have I would rather do that since I just bought a clutch, but if I have to get a new turbo any suggestions and opinions are welcome.

when that turbo lets loose from vibrations. . .you'll know it and quick. loss of power, white smoke from the exhaust and maybe a max of about 5psi boost

So you're saying it is just a matter of time. How likely is engine damage from the turbo going out?

The structual integrity has already been compromised by what's happened. I wouldn't risk it any farther and just get a new turbo. I understand you have the clutch thing to take care of but, if you end up with shrapnel making it's way through the intercooler to the engine... you'll have way more problems than you want.

Mayfair, we've talked about my turbo already. He wants something smaller.

I would rather just buy the one triton has, but from the shops I've talked to they said it is likely that I would run into surge and recommend one a little smaller. The truck is my daily driver, so I want something that still works well without driving it hard all the time. So which turbo is the new question.
