Default Ultimate Engine build

This is for all you mechanics, power maniacs, or just Cummins fanatics: If you were building your dream 03+ engine from the ground-up, what parts would you use. Don't leave out any detail, no matter how small. I'm already looking at a new turbo, if not a complete teardown (on my own dime ifI loose my warranty battle) so I thought I'd finally go all in and get a total setup. I have my own ideas, but they were based on a healthy stock 5.9 so I'm taking notes now. I'll also be keeping the manual tranny so a street-able high power clutch would be needed.

(if another thread already exsists, just post that and I'll stop crying to everyone about mywoes)

There's a lot of good parts out there to use including OEM Cummins parts. It all depends on how much you want to spend and how " ultimate " you want to go. The 1000hp Ram that was in Diesel world mag I believe, has over 30K in the engine alone.

here a few ideas...

Arias teflon coating pistons
Cummins shotpeen rods w/ HD pins
polished/balanced crankshaft
Helix II cam
Flux injectors)
F-1 springs
oversized valve seats
Spearco intercooler
ported/polished head ( with a ZZ manifold would be the ultimate but $$$$ )
ATS exhaust manifold
fire ringed
dual CP3's
modded rail
Fuel Boss mechanical pump

Most everything else internally that you will need are Cummins parts.. i.e, gaskets, bushing, bearings... things that will only be OEM parts in any form.

If you've only looked into a stock build and know what that would cost... you'd need to double or triple that for the build above. It ain't cheap by any means !! but, damn if it ain't gonna be fun to drive.

get the pistons ceramic coated. fire ring the head, some 100hp injectors, a stage II CP3, and a SPS62 or aurora 3000 turbo.

that should pretty well cover it.

I hear you Triton, I was gonna PM you about your Scheid engine if you didn't post here. My biggest problem is finding a good shop to throw the parts in.
I can imagine what your setup costs. I've been looking into some of the same items you have and they are a few grand individually. I know my engine won't be the biggest and baddest, but I don't want to over look something that I could have swaped for a little more. I was already planning on a camshaft, 12mm studs/firerings, new turbo, etc. before my engine trouble so I'm kinda ready to dive in kahones deep if I'm paying out of pocket. I'm mentally prepped for a lighter wallet (hey, no back pain )

Triton: You don't happen to have your stock parts lying around, do you ?

I will have a lot of stock parts. Pretty much everything I listed that was stock.

Although my parts are pretty sweet, it's not at all a biggest or baddest either. With just the parts Drew mentioned... you should see some nice HP without the huge expense. If you really want to go from the bottom end up.... it can be costly. Machine work is a big part of it.

Don't know if this is close to you but, they're in Decatur, AL .... http://www.citydiesel.net/

There's also a lot of good shops in Texas if you wanted to go that far.

I was talking with them back in July 06. I bought my gauges from them. I may PM you about your stock parts in a few weeks since they'll last for my setup.
