ORIGINAL: jakebrake

Warning, do not do this!!! With the grid heater relay pulled take a can a wd40 and spray it into the air cleaner while someone is cranking.[:-]

but it'll work
Finny, just bump the starter, let the fuel pump run until it shuts off, bump the starter again ect. Push the bleeder in at the vp44 inlet when the fuel pump is running. Once fuel comes out, your ready to go.
Or gas starting fluid! Seen that done couple times. When the engine is trying to rip it self out of the truck. Pretty sure it's pissed. Guess if you have no other alternitive (cold weather is when i've seen it.) But i'd rather plug my truck in and have a heater under it for couple hours than to shoot some crap in. Also they have some diesel starting fluid. When I was doing inventory for a trucking company they had a few bottles of it lieing around. Read Cold Weather Diesel Starting Fluid.

I bumped the starter on mine and it still gets enough air in it to cause me to have to crank it for a minute or two to start it. I don't know why, but I bump it 3 times, the fuel psi read 10 psi after the first bump. I then bumped it 2 more times just to be sure and it ran for 8 seconds the quit. The only sure fire way I can get it to start after a fuel filter change is to pout fuel into the filter housing then bump it one time.
