Default Engine is rough at idle/light throttle

I have a question and I hope someone may point me to an easy solution before taking my truck to the shop.
-When at idle, or at light throttle the engine runs very rough almost as if it were missing on 1 cylinder. At certain times it will actually miss when accelerating, usually during 2nd to 3rd shifts (auto trans). It will also sound as though it is backfiring when I take my foot off the gas from a rapid acceleration. Finally, my bullydog outlook has quit reading 2 of the parameter I set (coolant temp and speed). Could the BD be the cause of this. I just replaced the fuel filter 5K ago, but have not run a fuel pressure check. Any ideas? Thanks

I'd put it back to stock and see what it does. if it persists, then i'd slap in a good amount of power service diesel in the tank and go romp on it some and see if it clears up. you may have a clogged injector. I've had my motor run rough a couple of times and stomping on it from time to time fixes it. you'd be building up boost & pressure in the cylinders, that combined with the power service diesel additive will clean the injectors.

It is back on the stock setting and I have been using Drews brew for the past 3K miles. I'm just worried this is going to be an expensive fix...

I bet it's the ULSD diesel .
Maybe a little 2-stroke oil would smooth it out.

You can check your codes with out a programmer on/off on/off on/off/on with the key and they'll show up in the odometer reading. Quick to write em down! If any! Guy's have any idea how to clear codes with out having a programmer?

find a steep long hill and mat the throttle a few times. these engines like to be run through the ringer from time to time. if not an injector will foul up a bit over time.

my 93 was runnin the same way, except it was all stock.

figured it was a clogged injector but after 6 months of additives, I discovered the fuel injector pump is bad..

as of this monday, and a grand out of my pocket, it will be fixed.

hope its just an injector and nothing too serious. btw..check your air filter, and fuel filter...
