Almost lost yesterday
Well yesterday I came the closest I have come to losing, and I was shocked at what it was...a new VW Jetta with a turbo diesel in it...man they are fast! I could not shake his nose from the center of my truck, had he beat me I think I would have had to run him over at the stop light tho. Its good to see some of the car companies are getting smart. Id put this car up against any car out there...I was shocked.....yes it is safe to say Im done playing with Jetta's
or am I?
or am I?
Dude you don't want to mess with VW's.
I loved my 2.5 it was the greatest thing on 4 wheels. I got clocked at 125 in that thing once (thank god the cop was in a good mood). I've been craving a diesel rabitt!! But if I had all the money in the world I'd get the 5 lt diesel Touareg that they have in the UK. That thing drives like it is on rails.
The tweak and peak after market is a bit thin still here in the US but parts are easy to find on the net. I think the part that I respect the most about guys/gals who build up their VW's is the knowledge that it takes. Those German's just don't do things the same way. I had to buy a special tool to change my oil [sm=smiley29.gif]. But with a little love you can get a lot more hp out of those little engines.
Ok that is two posts in a row on how I loved cars I used to have. So before you toss me off the board - - I do love my Dodge, don't get me wrong I do. But I've driven lots of different things in the past and each and everyone of them had a special thingie about them.

I know what ya mean, I have never owned a stock vehicle, but if I were going to that Jetta is on top of my list. I need to put my engine in a Bug...that would be unreal! hehehe

When I was a kid I used to watch the guy next door get home on Friday and do the swap. Then he spent all weekend at the race track. God that bug could run.

Sharx... when are you gonna get that thing on the track so we can see some ET[sm=gears.gif] with all those kills in your sig, I'd think they'd be pretty good as you sit. It's fun taking out road kill but, that 1/4 mile is a loooong way when you're at the track! Are they any dyno's in your area ? That would be nie to know also.
Studs aren't that big a deal unless you plan on running some serious boost. Many of the racers swear by the stock bolts and HG. The CR's HG is pretty high quality as is. If you plan on running over 50lbs of boost then I suppose you could use the studs and a intercooler.
