Default ISB Cummins in Freightliner?

I am looking at buying a year 2000 Freightliner FL60 that has a Cummins ISB engine in it. Other than the injection pump being mechanical is this the same ISB engine in my 2001?

If the answer is yes, has anyone rebuilt an ISB? What is envolved and what am I looking at $$$ wise?

It will be the same basic engine. Maybe differnt injectors and turbo, but other than that its the same. Usually those in the frieghtliners are rated for less horsepower than what dodge bumps them up to. As for rebuild, I'm not sure on price, but you will have to take it to have the cylinders bored. Might just want to look into a reman engine insted and see what the price difference will be. (This way you got a warrenty with the engine too.)

The one I am looking at is rated at 225hp. I think my 01 CTD stock was rated at 245hp.

It has 380,000 miles on it. I figure go ahead and rebuild it if I buy it. Don't know, it may have another couple 100k left in it, depending on how well it was maintained.
