I thought all K&N's were oil type filters, if you are using a K&N you should probably find out for sure if it is supposed to be oiled or not.

not hard at all. . .since you have a 2000 it is easier to install one on the 2nd gens as opposed to the 3rd gens. if you get some 4" PCV about 5-6" in length it makes the install job MUCH easier.

would i need to put the BHAF toward the front like that or could i just use an elbow piece to put it back where the stock box is now?

yours would go where the stock air box is. on the 2nd gens there is a battery where the air box goes for the 3rd gens.
