Default Oil Change Interval on 6.7L

My overhead information centeris telling me thatan oil change is required. I just hit 2300 miles. The owners manual says the oil change interval on the 6.7L is 7500 miles. I figured I'd end up changing every 5000 or so, butcertainly not less then every 3000 miles. Any 6.7 owners run into this yet? What does everyone think?

might be for the first change. . .then after that it'll extend things.

I also wonder if it is tied into the hour meter.

Drew, that thought ran through my head as well.I was also wondering if the flash to the PCM I had a week and a half ago would have affected it as well. Whatoil do you recommend for the CTD?

Crazy! Mine did that too right at 2300 miles. I read the manual also and couldnt find anything on that, then I read on how to shut off the message on the display. Im not changing until 7500.

You need to use an oil that is rated CJ-4 for the 6.7L. I changed mine at 1800 miles because I wanted to switch to Amsoil. The new Amsoil DEO is a 5w-40 synthetic that is rated CJ-4. After I changed mine I followed the owner's manual instructions to reset the computer (slowly pushing the gas pedal all the way down three times with the key in the "on" position but the engine off). I received no confirmation that it was actually reset, but I assume it was reset.

Why does every one only worry about how many miles factory oil has on it and not take the time to even look and see how old it is? I’ve seen my fair share of new trucks that have up to 9-month-old oil in them with less then 25 miles on the engine and I sure as heck would not trust 6-9 month old oil for much more then a 1,000 miles. Also I would not wait until the factory oil has 7500 miles on it that rammunition said he was waiting to change his oil at with out knowing how old it was.

JMHO

Mine came on at 1750. Total crap if you ask me. Anyhow the first change was free, so I figured next time I will wait 7500 no matter what the idiot display barks out!

I talked the tech at the dealership today. He said that Dodge purposely makes the computer notify the owner early of a needed oil change (not sure I believe that). However, the system is also supposed to sense your driving style and notify you based on that. I mainlymake short in town trips where the engine probably does not warm up all the way, so my oil change interval will beshorter than someone that does all highwaydriving.

At any rate, he told me to clear it and keep driving. He recommended changing the oil at 3000 miles. I was thinking every 5000 miles. The manual says every 7500 miles.
