Default Amsoil = better MPG's ???

A friend of mine who drives a Hemi SWEARS that he's getting about 2mpg better now that he's switched to Amsoil oil in his last oil change.

Do you think it's true, or is he yanking my larriat?

Amsoil would sure lead you to believe that. It's a cult oil in where those that use it swear by it and have been brainwashed by their literature. You can see it all over the forums, especially DTR where there's a bunch of dealers. I'm sure it is good oil but, so are other brands.

Sorry, I don't like Amsoil or the way it's marketed. It reminds me of Avon calling!

it depends... if he was using 20w50 dino oil and went to a 5w-30 or 50 oil... yeah I could see an improvement, but 2 mpg might be a stretch...

I agree triton.

I've never been a big fan of synthetics to begin with.I dont know why, butI just don't trrust em. I swear my Harley runs hotter with it in there. I've always been a regular ole oil kinda guy and because my Fatboy came with synth I've kept useing it, but every time that needle goes over 250 I think about switching it.

We'll see ...

When I went from 15w40 dino to Amsoil 5w30 I gained about .60 mpg. I have the Amsoil 75/90 SVG gear oil in for about 7K but I did not check to see if I gained any from it when I put it in. I also use there ATF and I just put there 0w20 in my wifes car so in about 8 days I will see if she gained any mpg from it over Amsoil 5w20 XL oil. Like Drew I don't sell nor pimp it to other I just like what I get from them.

Melon, get an old pot bellied wood stove (not airtight) and I have an apparatus to drip the waste oil into the stove. It makes your wood last longer and the oil dissapear.
