6.4 Power JOKE
i've driven every generation of powerchokes there is- 7.3L, 6.0L, and 6.4L and i'd have to say that the old 7.3s were my favorite (@ least out of the ford junk)..... i had a 6.4L F-550 the beginning of the year, needless to say i gave that POS back and got back into my old 6.0L F-450... ford is a f*ckin joke!!
the only thing i'll give ford is that their frames hold up a lot better than my old dodge did... we run 4000-6000lb cranes on these trucks and the dodges just couldn't handle them- payload wise... hopefully the oilfield will open back up to dodge since the release of their 4500 and 5500 series trucks!!

Another powerchoke sob story. My B-inlaws 2001 F-250 has been through a turbo, tranny numerous other expensive mechanical problems. His latest expense was 2 grand having the oil pan replaced because it rotted out!!! And he claims it was his wife's idea to get the Ford. Gotta get a truck with REAL diesel engine.
I had very few problems with the 3 Ford diesels that I had. First one was a 93 250 with a turbo. Next was a 99 with a stroker and then an Excursion with a stroker. 93 threw the belt one time (at 100,000 miles)and it was a bad bracket for the idler and a/c. 99 had no issues, and the Excursion had the washer line for the rear window come undone. Why did I Not buy a new Ford? All three of those rigs would not start without being plugged in if the temp got to 0 or below. All of the guys that I talked to at work only had problems starting a Dodge at -10 if they had battery issues. The 3 Fords that I had did over 300,000 miles with only 1 breakdown that kept a rig in the shop overnight. Not a bad record in my book. And I'm sure that all of the people that have problems with their Fords are "talking" a lot louder then the ones that have had no problems.
1500k miles till crapped out?!?! I have to say, at least Fords don't go down without a fight. Granted they are all either fighting or down, no in between...
And what kind of quality control do they have there? Leaving a BOLT in the cylinder! Now that is even dumber then a rookie mistake...

I know the 6.0 and 6.4's nock. . .but having a bolt head or what ever it was in there should have made a hell of a racket.
heck Ive seen what happens to a 8.3L when you drop 2 valves. sound wise there was just a bit more tapping, but a heck of alot od smoke frrom the exhaust. the 6.2's make more noise with a glow plug broken off inton the cylinder.

The dealer call my brother in law and said there was a 3/8 by 3" bolt left in the number 7 cylinder during assembly and is now compressed into the piston. How does that happen?

what do y'all think ?
that's a good point. I'd bet on the glow plug not a bolt. 3" sounds kind of long though for a g-plug.I bet it's hard to recognize either one since being hot pressed into the piston. Your on the right track to press them for the lemon replacement. Brutal.
